Katie Tolbert

I completed my Small Animal Internal Medicine residency and PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences at North Carolina State University
and earned board certification and my PhD in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Before coming to Texas A&M University (TAMU) as an Associate Professor, I was on faculty at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine and consulted for the TAMU Gastrointestinal Laboratory. I also hold positions as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee and North Carolina State University, and am a consulting veterinarian for the Dog Aging Project funded by the National Institute on Aging. My research program is focused on small animal gastroenterology with a specific interest in the investigation of the efficacy of both nutritional and pharmacologic interventions in the treatment of canine and feline gastrointestinal diseases. I have published over 95 peer-review manuscripts and received the Zoetis award for Excellence in Veterinary Research in 2018. My clinical and translational research training and publication record demonstrate my expertise in the subject area and ability to meaningfully contribute to this proposal.
